About
Faith Haven …
Faith Haven began in
1985 as a result of the vision of one woman – Sylvia McGill. Sylvia
gained the awareness for the need for concrete alternatives to
abortion through her work for the City of Rochester School District
and her experience as a foster parent.
Driven by her vision of providing a safe home with a Christian
atmosphere and plenty of practical support, Sylvia spent two years
promoting her concept to area businessmen, ministers, counselors
and teachers.
Finally, the pieces came together as word
spread, and a home nestled in the Bristol Hills near Naples,
New York was donated for Faith Haven’s use. Able to accommodate
six young women at one time, Faith Haven provides housing for
approximately 17 young women each year. In addition, numerous
others are served through counseling and referrals.
Today, Faith Haven continues to provide
experienced care and support to women in crisis pregnancy. We
are led by a 12 member Board of Directors and a 15 member Advisory
Board. We are proud of our membership in the Evangelical Council
for Financial Accountability (ECFA) which signifies our commitment
to adhere to the biblical principles of stewardship that God
commands His people to observe.
