You can Help …

The families of women who attend Faith Haven are often unable to afford the cost of staying with us. However, no woman is turned away for financial reasons. We therefore rely heavily on donors and volunteers. Approximately 60% of our budget funding come from the contributions of generous donors. Without dedicated volunteers, much of our important work would go undone. Through the help of these contributions of both time and money, Faith Haven is making a difference in the lives of young women in crisis every year. Here’s how you can get involved:

Donors – Faith Haven is licensed by the State of New York to provide physical, emotional, educational and spiritual counseling to unmarried, pregnant young women. In addition, Faith Haven has qualified for tax exempt status under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. This means that the generous donations we receive are 100% tax deductible. Our membership in the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) assures you that Faith Haven will demonstrate good stewardship in putting your donation to work in a responsible manner. Donations of Non-Cash Items in good condition are also much appreciated and are also tax deductible. If you want to check on our need for specific items, please email us at faithhaven@juno.com

Corporate Sponsors – Businesses interested in helping residents learn skills needed to compete in the job market. This can be accomplished through a shadowing program, internships, part-time positions or a one-time seminar.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Sisters in Spirit – Share your time and the love of Christ with a specific resident of Faith Haven.
  • Labor & Delivery Coach – Attend childbirth classes with the young women you will be coaching. Once the resident goes into labor, you will meet her at Thompson hospital to coach her through her labor and delivery.
  • Family Advocate – Your family can provide a Christian role model for our residents. Invite the resident(s) to your home for a cookout, movie, putt-putt golf, or other fun activity.
  • Teachers – Spiritually mature people are needed to teach classes that will encourage residents. Subjects included are: Abstinence, Parenting, Financial Planning, Bible Study, Decision Basics, Adoption, Nutrition, Aerobics. No degree required. Faith Haven supplies all materials needed.
  • Domestic Skills – Instructing the residents how to cook, bake, sew, knit, decorate, make crafts, etc.
  • Speakers Bureau – If you have the ability to speak well before groups of people to help promote the ministry of Faith Haven.
  • Aftercare Families – A Christian family who desires to house a resident for a few months after birth to help her transition into her new life away from Faith Haven.
  • Administrative Help/Odd Jobs – We are always in need of volunteers to help us with fund-raising, newsletters and mailings, handy persons, household maintenance, etc.

Whatever skills or talents God has given you, we would love to have you share them with this vital ministry. For more information, please call Dawn Andrea at (716) 374-5659.
